Eddy: Counting EQTYPEs doesn't cover it. Take the "Fiend
(Carrion/Rotlord)". It has Multiattack in its default
entry. It has 2 Pincer attacks and 1 Bite attack, so COUNT
[EQTYPE.Natural] will only return 2.

HANDS also dictates how many weapons can be equipped....

Ok, I'm going to start pushing for NATURALATTACKS going the
byways again. I've run across a source recently that
someone was asking about that has a different critmults and
critranges.. Range increments on natural ranged weapons,
etc....

Doing a check on the Equipped weapons doesn't show if the
character can actually use 3 or more. Some monsters can
switch between natural and manufactured weapons.

should do the trick as long as all the natural attacks are equipped. I was

wondering why I kept running across HANDS tags with strange numbers in
them.

I see two ways to do this:

  • the easy wayRETEXT

  • the hard way: Using a variable that gets the number of
    Natural Attacks coded in. Templates or Feats that add
    further Natural attacks would add to that variable as
    well. The Multiattack feat could then use PREVARGTEQ.

And if you look at the current implementation in the RSRD,
there it doesn't have use prerequistes at all.

And how else would you test for it? Must have HANDS of 3 or
more (more than 2). HANDS basically is only set above
default 2 for monsters with 3 or more natural weapons.
Yeah, there are some exceptions, but unless something
recently changed, it isn't possible to count the number of
legitamate natural weapons due to the NATURALATTACKS tag
that everyone besides me seems to thinks is a good thing.

/side rant: I hate trying to squeeze everything in a normal
object into one tag.
