PCGen 6.01.09 runs slower than earlier versions, such as 6.01.08. Export to pdf is notably longer. Further more, the longer I use and keep an instance open, the slower the performance seems to be. I used to open and close with updates to 2-3 characters at a time, and up to 6 without real issue. Now, I seem to need to close and restart between each character.
If useful, I could load specific character files that I have seen performance issues with, but it seems very reproducible to me.
Windows 7 SP1 (64-bit), Java 7 u 45
I've recently made some performance improvements which had a fairly dramatic effect on some characters. Could you give the autobuild a try and see if that resolved the issue please?
If the problem persists, could you please attach a full log of a slow session on pcgen. In particular during that session could you open the log window (F10) and press the "Run Garbage Collection" button after each action. This will write the memory information into the log as well.
The log file is named pcgen.log and is written to the pcgen install directory. It contains details of what actions were taken and any errors encountered.
Sure. Let me download the autobuild, and I will tell you what I see.
First impression – yes, notably better. Let me go through a few characters in iteration and try some exports to see how it does.
Its been a week now - I'll close this later today unless there is a specific issue remaining.
