In Pathfinder Society Field Guide and Pathfinder Society Primer, Vanity Prestige Awards are described that can modify a vanilla Wayfinder by changing its composition, but usually replace or add new spells that it can use.
It would be nice to have those, either as modifiers of a wayfinder, or to make the background abilities change a wayfinder (but then the question becomes, which one the character has).
We making any head way on this ?
While there is nothing in PCGen preventing me from working on this small part of wayfinders, I wanted to wait until I can have a plan for a total solution for wayfinder support including this issue and resonant powers of ioun stones actually contained in a wayfinder, but not using some ability pool or other concept that would decouple the resonant power form the actual container-contained relationship. I realize that for PFS players who've selected these prestige awards, these modifications to the way their wayfinder works are important.
The way I'm leaning at this time to implement this particular feature is by creating a new "Wayfinder (generic)" item that cannot be purchased without customization but and has all the LST coding for all the generic vanities. Each specific wayfinder would then .COPY from this generic to inherit that coding. So when new prestige awards are created (such as those that exist on Chronicle Sheets), a .MOD of the generic item will add the ability to apply the award to all the wayfinders without having to add the same code to have to know every wayfinder that may or may not be loaded in another LST file.
@thpr did we ever resolve the container proposal to handle these interactions?
Solution for now:
Set up Pool
Wayfinder sets number for pool
Empty - negates all points (Wayfinder grants default functions (Another ability))
Options cost 1
