Deity specific spells

Description

Hi. This is not an urgent issue, but it would be nice if PCGen filtered spells by specific deity, where such spells are indicated. I'm sure my Sarenrae cleric shouldn't really be offered Waters of Lamashtu on his spell list, nor even Light of Iomedae.
It is particularly confusing for lesser experienced players and makes it dubious as to whether to load in the Gods supplements because it then produces a whole slew of spells, most of which the character shouldn't have.
It would be great if PCGen only listed the ones pertinent to the character's declared deity.
Of course, there may be reasons why this isn't feasible, such as a cleric who chooses a deityless option such as Green Faith, but even if it only worked for the major gods it would be helpful.
Cheers,
Tony

Hi Andrew,
Well, I thought this was the case. Perhaps I was just making an assumption. It seems wrong that a cleric of Iomedae is offered Waters of Lamashtu, for example!
I cannot immediately find an official ruling, however. I'll look around and get back to you if so.
What would the PRExxx coding look like, then?

Cheers,
Tony

Howdy,
Having a quick break from school work to look at this request. Before I even act, is there a rule that expressly forbids a cleric from having another deity named spell?
If you have a rule, then great, I'll put in restrictions and problem solved. However, if this is a homebrew/houserule request only, then I cannot act. I can certainly tell you to put a PRExxx on the spells, since that works.

Simple just add PREDEITY:1,DeityNameHere

If you want a more robust solution that can be used more on the fly,
like your pantheon follower instead of deity specific...

PREMULT:1,[PREDEITY:1,DeityNameHere],[PREVAREQ:BypassDeitySpecificSpells,1]

Then write a bypass rule that has DEFINE:BypassDeitySpecificSpells|0 and
BONUS:VAR|BypassDeitySpecificSpells|1

Simple enough. As I said before, logically your concern may be valid,
but without a publisher rule stating to the contrary, I cannot impose
restrictions as posted above. I vaguely recall that most clerics may
have those specific deity spells, but have them called by "different"
names. Waters of Iomedae as an example.

Good hunting for the rule. If you don't find a rule, or it rules
against, let me know so I can close this out. You have the answer you
need in case you wish to house rule this.
Cheers,
Andrew

Thanks . I guess all this coding is in the xx_spell.lst file? The reason I was hoping you could do it is twofold..
1. Other users would get the use of it.
2. If it's not in the core files I would need to rejig every time I upgrade PCGen.
Cheers,
Tony

Hiya,

Upon rereading Inner Sea Gods, it would seem that the spells are not barred from
other gods, just favoured by their own followers. Which makes it a grey area and
quite awkward for PCGen to determine.

So, best to leave it be - sorry about wasting your time, but thanks.

Cheers,

Tony

After discussion there is no rule that would make this necessary.
