Rangers with high spell stats (Wisdom scores of 12 or better) are able to cast spells at level 4. The Core rulebook lists available spells at level 4 as 0, with high spell stats allowing bonus spells (regardless of the 0 in the spell column). For example, at level 4, a ranger with a wisdom of 12 could cast 1 1st-level spell, a wisdom of 20 (although highly unlikely) would allow 2 spells, and so on.
Also included should be other classes whose spell casting starts at levels other than 1st. Example: Paladin level 4, Paladin level 7 (for 2nd level spells), and so on.
So PCGen should take into account higher spell stats that allow spells, despite the column listing available spells as "0".
I assure you, it does. Rangers, having access to ALL spells, like clerics and druids, do not choose spells in PCGen. Rather, the spells are listed on the character sheet!
That's really strange. I loaded both the standard and the simplified sheets, nothing, So I re-created the Ranger at 4th level, and now it works. My apologies. I completely re-loaded both PCGen and the ranger at 4th level initially, and it did not work. But when I recreated the 4th level from top to bottom, it works.
Cannot reproduce the issue after re-creating the character at 4th level.
