Thanks for your prompt reply. I'll turn you back over to Eric to follow up. (Please use your 'reply all' to keep us both in the conversation)
I don't have a Mac, which is why I asked Eric Smith to assist you in this matter. Eric is the most qualified to handled your issues since he does both the compiling of PCGen for the Mac and has experience in debugging Mac issues. The most notorious issue being the Mac Gatekeeper issue we encountered to date. (The windows version of User Account Control).
Since I don't have a copy of the correspondences prior between you and Eric, I can only ask basic questions, and forgive me if you've already covered this ground.
I'll presume you gave the OS version for your Mac. I know Mac and Java versions are usually tied together. But have you installed any customized Java on your Mac or arranged the version to be different from a typical install?
Did you install PCGen after disabling the Gatekeeper program?
Does PCGen have the proper permissions? (I know on Windows we have to install it outside the normal program folder or else the program is prevented from saving files properly)
What version of PCGen are you installing on the Mac?
Is there any Error message in the pcgen log? (F10 is the menu shortcut) If there is an error message, please post the entire log. That enables the code team to debug the issue.
(You may have better success using the latest version with more patches - 6.03.03)
Beyond that, only Eric is really equipped to answer/ask the questions. We are both sincerely wanting to get this issue resolved, If you can continue to work with Eric and be patient with us, we will do everything in our power to get this working for you.
ERIC - Can you open a Help Request JIRA on this one and post what details we have so far. I don't want this to fall through the cracks. Did you have any outstanding questions for Mark to help get this solved?
I have the Mac OS version and he had IT install the latest JAVA for his machine and OS. I'll have to check what version of JAVA is the latest for Mac OS 10.7.5.
The Mac doesn't have the same problem that Windows machines have as far as 'where' the program is installed, but it would also be helpful to know if the machine has been configured with any special security software.
One other question that I need an answer to is where is PCGen configured to save files at. You can save files in one of three places; 1) inside the PCGen App folder, 2) in the 'Home' folder, which mean in the 'Library/Preferences/PCGen' folder, and 3) a user specified location. As downloaded, PCGen on the Mac is configured to use the PCG App folder.
It looks like the latest JAVA 1.7 (1.7.0_65) can run on Mac OS 10.7.5.
