[ 1210869 ] [PDF] Combine the three Double Weapon
blocks into one
-------- Using PCGen 5.8 and
csheet_fantasy_std_blue.xslt.

I have a quarterstaff equipped as a double
weapon. I am carrying a light crossbow. The
crossbow is displayed on the second page
along with the other equipment, but I think it
makes more sence to put it with the weapon
stats on the first page. This is what the html
output sheet does as well.

I'm not sure I can really fix this in the OS. The code puts out a double
weapon as 3 different weapons. There is one "general" weapon, and then one
weapon for each head. The general weapon looks like it should not be
output. The blocks for each head must be output if the heads are different.
They could be output as one weapon if they are both the same. If a code
monkey can look over the output code, then this may be fixable from inside
the code.

This modified base.xml file produces output that
WorksForMe(TM). I simply commented out one of the
weapon tags, so it is really a dirty hack.

I just realized I missed an important point.

The second block already has ALL the necessary
info! It is the one that gets marked "Head 1 only".

All that needs to be done is to turn off the first and
third block, so there is room for the ranged weapon
block.

I just want to make sure that this point isn't missed.
Sorry if I repeat myself.

The html output already seems to have this, except it
doesn't work properly. I have uploaded a screenshot
which shows the html output.

Here the quarterstaff is held in both hands, not as a
double weapon. The output shows only one block
with fields for both standard two handed attack and
double weapon attack. The double weapon fields just
shows "N/A".

At any rate this is not a bug as this is currently the
expected
behaviour of
how the program is set up to work. Condencing the Double
weapon
block
into one block is something which can be looked at but it
would
be a
feature request. I'm going to change the title and move
this to feature
requests.

The html output has both two handed and double
weapon stats in one block. Unfortunately the double
weapon stats are quoted as "N/A". Couldn't the
block
be modified to display both types of stats at the same
time?

You may just be out of luck. The PDF is limited to three
weapon
blocks
because three of the largest weapon blocks is all that will
fit
on the page. If
your weapon blocks are smaller than the largest one there
are
then you will
see some unused space at the bottom. Unfortunately with the
way
PCGen
is set up for out put there is no way for it to know how
much
room the
blocks will take which is why it is set to the arbitrary
number
of three
weapons blocks.

The HTML sheet does not have this issue as it does not have
to
deal with
the problem of dividing things up to fit them on a page
because
a web
page is not constrained to a specific size.

But in that mode, there are no stats at all for using the
quarterstaff as a double weapon. Only the standard
two handed attack is displayed. I need the double
attack as it is my primary attack form for my character.

If you equip the Quarterstaff in "Both Hands" instead
of in "Double
Weapon" PCGen will only use one block to display the weapon
instead of
three. The three double weapon block display is usefull if
the
two heads of
the double weapon are signifigantly different or have
different

enhancments, for a weapon like the Quarterstaff the three
block
set up is
redundant and you can save space by equipping in both hands.

I want the quarterstaff first on the page, and the
crossbow after that. There is plenty of room for it.

I tried moving the order around like you suggested,
but then a part of the quarterstaff info is moved to the
second page.

I have attached the pdf file.

Each page display the first 3-5 weapons in the equipement
list. The number depends on the type of weapons (some have
more lines then others).

Change the item ordering in the first inventory tab to
select
the weapon you want on the first page.

Patch won't work with new set up, I can remove the smaller two-weapons block, but then pcgen replaces it with the standard output.
